TikTok’s ‘Add to Music App’ feature just got even more exciting, with Deezer becoming the latest music streaming platform to join the service. This growing tool lets TikTok users seamlessly save songs they discover on the platform directly to their favorite streaming app, enhancing music discovery and accessibility.
Since its launch in November 2023, the feature has seen steady expansion. Initially available in the US and UK with Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music, TikTok has now rolled it out to more regions and platforms, including South Korea’s Melon last month. Now, with Deezer’s integration, the network is becoming even more robust.
These developments come as TikTok makes significant changes to its music strategy. The platform recently announced plans to shut down its TikTok Music service in five regions (Indonesia, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, and Mexico) to focus more on partnerships with external streaming services. By redirecting resources to the ‘Add to Music App’ feature, TikTok aims to boost music consumption on these platforms rather than competing directly with them.
Deezer users can now use the ‘Add Song’ button when they come across a track they like on TikTok. This automatically saves the song to their Deezer account, and after the first use, Deezer becomes the default option for all future saves. The feature works across TikTok’s For You Feed and artist Sound Detail Pages, making it easier than ever to transition from discovery to playback.
Michael Kümmerle, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Partnership Development, highlighted the success of the feature, noting:
“Add to Music App has already been responsible for hundreds of millions of track saves, and billions more streams on music streaming services.”
Matthieu Gorvan, Deezer’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, added:
“Discovering a new favorite song is a magical moment, and we’re dedicated to helping Deezer users hold on to that experience. By creating a seamless integration between Deezer and social platforms, we help fans turn brief encounters with music into lasting connections.”
This partnership not only simplifies the experience for music fans but also provides artists with greater exposure, making it a win-win for everyone involved.
